This is a powerful, true drama of six women who went to Vietnam: four nurses, one Army intelligence officer, and a country western singer booked by an unscrupulous agent to entertain the troops. The play portrays each young woman before, during, and after her tour in the war-torn nation and ends as each leaves a personal token at the memorial wall in Washington.

 Roles To Be Cast:

The age ranges listed below are represented by the characters in their entirety throughout the show. Actors will also “fill in” as scene partners portraying multiple characters throughout the show.

MARYJO (20–40): Blond, pretty, outgoing, bubbly personality. Texas accent. Sexy with a funny, comedienne quality, but sad underneath. Skilled guitarist and singer a plus.

MARTHA (22–42): Strong, self-composed, with an aura of discipline and military bearing. Strong features; American; almost pioneer-like in demeanor.

SISSY (20–30): Sweet, feminine, outgoing, with a sense of fun, harmony, and warmth in her personality.

LEEANN (20–40): Asian or Asian American. Strong, tough, and determined. Urban and hip quality to her personality.

STEELE (35–55): Black. Extremely strong with military bearing. Intelligent, outgoing, with a great sense of humor. A pragmatist. Southern.

WHITNEY (21–41): Withdrawn, and contained. Aristocratic in bearing and quality. Vassar graduate.

AMERICAN MAN (20–35): Featured role portraying multiple male characters including soldiers, officers, a recruiter, and a father - who reflect the environment and challenges the women face. The actor(s) will perform all male roles in the play.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
